Biography
Félix Gómez was born in Murcia
Spain, on February
26th 1983.
He carried out his Primary Education in the Public School
Infante Don Juan Manuel and then attended the Secondary School Saavedra
Fajardo, where he fulfilled his Secondary Education.
In the year 2001-2002 he started his degree in Computer
Science Engineering at the Faculty
of Computer Science of the University
of Murcia, which he concluded in the year 2005-2006 with an academic
record that rewarded him with the "Honourable Mention to the Academic Excellence".
It is worth mentioning that the last year of his degree was developed
at the School
of Computer and Telematic Sciences of the University
of Granada in 2005-2006, by means of a 9-months SICUE stay and with
a SÉNECA scholarship granted by the Spanish Education
and Science Ministry.
In the year 2006-2007 he carried out the postgraduate studies leading
to the master’s degree of "Master
in Advanced Information and Telematic Technologies" with a Quality
Mention by the Spanish Education and Science Ministry. Moreover, during that year
he also worked for the Applied Communications and Information Technologies Area
of the University of Murcia, within the CYUM group,
in the FaCTo project for Teléfonica Móviles.
On June 21st, 2010 he presented his
PhD Thesis developed within the Department of Information and Communications Engineering
of the University of Murcia, under the supervision of
Dr Gregorio Martínez Pérez, and awarded with a FPI research grant (Research Teacher Training) by the
Séneca Foundation in the Region
of Murcia. In January 2011, he received the Best PhD Thesis Award
from the School of Computer Science of the University of Murcia.
From his first scholarship year he has written several publications
(papers in journals,
conferences,
book chapters,
etc.), he has been TPC member
and guest editor
in several journals and international conferences, he has carried out several
academic training courses,
he has been teacher of several subjects,
he has developed several training
courses and he has been incorporated into several teaching
innovation projects and researching ones.
Since September 1st, 2008 until February 28th, 2009 he did a research internship
at NEC
Laboratories Europe in Heidelberg
(Germany), under the supervision of Joao Girao and Amardeo Sarma,
for 6 months.
Such internship was supported by a
grant of the Séneca Foundation. Since September 14th 2009, until March 13th, 2010 he
performed a second internship in the same institution, this time under the supervision of Christoph Sorge
and Amardeo Sarma, with a total duration of another 6 months. This second internship was supported as well by a
grant of the Séneca Foundation.
He is currently working at NEC Laboratories Europe in
Heidelberg (Germany),
within the security group, since November 2010.
